Boosting Your Challenge with Supplements

As you kick off your Challenge, we recommend you take a ‘food first’ approach to nutrition, because most of the nutrients you need can be found right in your nutritious diet. Supplements can definitely give your diet a boost, but should be used purely as a ‘supplement’ to what you eat, not your driving force. If you’re worried about nutritional deficiencies, speak with a health professional so he or she can assess your individual needs. Above all, choose a diet rich in wholesome, colourful, minimally processed foods.

F45 only recommends supplements with a proven ability to assist in maximizing performance, results, or achieving nutritional goals on an individual basis. Right now, we are in the process of developing our own unique supplements to debut later this year. Until then, let’s take a look at our preferred choice for a supplement, WPI!

WPI, or Whey Protein Isolate, is the highest quality protein and is particularly easy for muscles to absorb and use. It has been shown to have the fastest rate of digestion, and is a great option to use to help with recovery. Derived from whey, it’s one of the proteins found in cow’s milk, but is low in lactose. Convenient for on-the-go consumption, this high-quality protein source can be used to meet meal or snack requirements if you’re unable to achieve them through food alone.

We recommend WPI post-training, mixed with water, your choice of milk, or in a smoothie for a more substantial meal or snack. It can also be used throughout the day to boost your protein if required, such as in oats or protein balls.

Recommended dose: Aim for at least 15-20g protein overall at each meal or snack (some people will need more than this) for optimal results. Protein can come from many sources, with a protein powder being one of the most  convenient options.

WPI is currently on sale in F45 studios in Australia and will be available in more markets later this year. F45 will launch a full supplement range in 2020, including BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids) and Pre-Workout.

Be on the lookout for upcoming news on wider distribution.
